Frequently Asked Questions

Are terry towels supplied?

The towels can be found at your local discount store (Costco, Sams Club, or the like) and look in the auto section. You will be able to buy them in bulk very cheap. We do not supply them because they are easily purchased locally cheaper! FREE terry cloths are not that big of a deal.

What is a Vapor Steam Cleaning system?

A vapor system looks like a vacuum but it is not. It is not the conventional steam cleaner nor is it a pressure washer. It is an appliance that uses only a little water and a little electricity to turn the water to a very high temperature vapor that on contact will sanitize, clean and deodorize virtually any surface – without using chemicals.

What is Dry Steam Vapor?

This describes a system that produces a high temperature, low moisture vapor. The vapor contains less than 10% water vapor and is much less dense than the air we breathe. Over the past few years, you have been exposed to products being promoted as steam cleaners. Theses so called steam machines spray on large amounts of water using quantities described in “gallons per minute”. The vapor system, by contrast, is equipped to safely produce dry steam. It is unlike anything you have used before. It is mess free with temperatures hot enough to kill bacteria and germs, emulsify grease and oil as well as other surface contaminates. The system is also quiet and portable so it can be used anywhere at anytime.

How does dry vapor steam work?

Using water, this multi-purpose appliance creates a low moisture vapor that carries heat to the surface you wish to treat. The heat combined with light agitation does the work for you. This appliance comes with a variety of accessories creating a system that can be used on an unlimited number of applications. The system can be used for carpets as well as oven cleaning. The process eliminates chemical residues while sanitizing the surface being treated. Because so little water is consumed, it’s virtually mess free.

What is the Best type of Water to use in my Dry Vapor Steam Cleaner?

The BEST type of water to use in ANY steam cleaner is water that is free of minerals and pollutants such as and Reverse Osmosis (RO) water or Distilled. Bottled Water is ok also but not mineral bottled water. At Vapor Professionals we suggest using Reverse Osmosis or Distilled water.

What can I use it on??

The system is practical for any surface with the exception of those surfaces that are extremely heat sensitive. Surfaces such as silks, some very thin plastics, and some types of velour upholstery must be treated with great care. The system has additional uses besides sanitation. Defrosting freezers, thawing frozen pipes, dusting and misting live plants, and polishing jewelry are but a few of the non-cleaning applications. The use of the system in general contributes directly to better indoor air quality by reducing chemical residuals and removing airborne particles.

Where does the water go?

The water is put into a special tank or boiler that super heats the water and changes it into a hot dry mist or vapor. The unique benefit of this system is that it produces high temperature with a low moisture vapor that carries less than 10% water. We like to call this a Steam Vapor because so little water is left behind and so little is used. This patented system gives us the proven power of heat to safely sanitize and clean while reducing chemical use. Floors are also dry within a few minutes. This reduces the time and effort required for many tasks.

How much pressure does it produce?

The appliance produces only low pressures, usually in the range of 50 to 66 PSI. The low pressure creates a very safe, and easy to use system. Low pressures are also essential for getting the job done without making a huge mess. The heat concentrated at the work surface does the cleaning. The heat dissipates quickly once the vapor expands into the atmosphere.

Is this system Effective against Dust Mites or Fleas???

Is the continuous refill and tank capacity really important to have?

The ability to refill water continuously is VERY important. When using a continuous refill machine you do not have to wait for the machine to cool down before refilling and heat up again before continuing with the cleaning. Many systems take 10 to 20 minutes in-between refill

Why are some Steam Cleaners so CHEAP? Aren they all the same? I can buy a cheap one for $150.00!

Comparing lower cost, low pressure and low boiler temperature steam cleaner units with full sized Dry Vapor Steam Cleaners is like comparing apples to oranges. See below….

Here are a few IMPORTANT FEATURES and things to consider when buying a Quality Vapor Steam Cleaner:

Good residential units have boiler temperatures between 240 and 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Avoid any steam cleaner that has a lower boiler temperature or simply does not tell you what it is. The boiler temperature is VERY important because the hotter the boiler is means a quantum increase in cleaning effectiveness and the hotter the steam output.

Please Note:

Having a Boiler Temperature in the 280 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit gives you good and effective Dry Vapor Steam. This is why a High Boiler temperature is important in dry vapor steam cleaners.

Tank Capacity:

Very small water tanks can require refilling every 5 to 20 minutes. Remember, if it is not a continuous refill system you will have to wait maybe 10 to 20 minutes in-between refills.

Control of the Steam Volume:

Some units have NO control of the steam volume making them not well suited for tough jobs or commercial type applications.

Handle On and Off Switch Controls of the Steam Vapor:

Some units have NO way of stopping the steam vapor except for turning off the unit. Fingertip Trigger Control allows you to stop the vapor instantly!

Pressure Gauge:

If a unit does not have a pressure gauge you are simply guessing the amount of pressure.

Are dry steam vapor systems being used commercially?

Yes, at some of the very best hotels, restaurants, malls, commercial and government buildings such as schools and universities to name only a few. Commercial application and use of a dry vapor system improves indoor air quality, eliminates smells, improves aesthetics or appearance; providing a more thorough, efficient, and cost-effective approach to cleaning. The use of chemicals is reduced and/or eliminated; limiting regulatory requirements and is eco-friendly. We sell many machines to some of the most prestigious and well-respected businesses in the country.
